The time has come to reveal the mystery! Mystery Booster Commander Edition made its debut at Gen Con, introducing players to the next evolution of this fan-favorite Limited experience. Lead Designers Gavin Verhey and Eric Engelhard carefully crafted this release specifically for Commander Draft. And as attendees opened their boosters, they realized just how wild, chaotic, and mysterious the cards in this release are.

Legality:
Mystery Booster Commander Edition (MBC) is legal in Commander, Legacy, and Vintage, and individual cards are also legal where already available in other formats.
New-to-Magic MBC cards will be legal in Commander on November 13, 2026.
New-to-Magic MBC cards will be legal in Legacy, Vintage, and other Eternal formats on January 1, 2027.
Playtest cards and cards with the acorn stamp are not legal in any Constructed formats.
The short answer to "What's inside Mystery Booster Commander Edition?" is "Basically anything you can imagine and more." But the longer, legally compliant answer is that each box of Mystery Booster Commander Edition contains 24 boosters. Each booster contains the following:
20 Magic: The Gathering cards
3 White common or uncommon cards
3 Blue common or uncommon cards
3 Black common or uncommon cards
3 Red common or uncommon cards
3 Green common or uncommon cards
1 Reprint wildcard of any rarity
1 Rare or mythic rare reprinted commander
1 Non-foil (95.25%) or traditional foil (4.75%) new-to-Magic commander
1 Non-foil or traditional foil card
A non-foil (43.3%) or traditional foil (2%) common or uncommon Future Sight frame card
A non-foil (52%) or traditional foil (2.4%) rare or mythic rare Future Sight frame card
A traditional foil acorn stamp card (less than 1%)
1 Playtest card

The Cards of Mystery Booster Commander Edition
Each booster is designed to cultivate the ideal experience for Commander Draft. You'll open plenty of cards from each color and have a wide variety of options for commanders. And since Mystery Booster Commander Edition contains over 2,000 cards from throughout Magic's history—everything from Arena to Zellix, Sanity Flayer—you're sure to find old favorites and cards you've never even seen before.
Elesh Norn, Mother of Machines (Planeswalker Stamp)
Each reprint, which features the Planeswalker stamp, was chosen to cultivate the ultimate Commander Draft experience. (Where else can you draft Clown Car alongside Diabolic Tutor?) The design team selected some of the most obscure and flashy printings for each of these cards, so even the reprints are packed with chaos and mystery.
